Spain digital nomad visa requirements (2026)
The digital nomad residence, governed by Law 28/2022 (the Startups Act), allows you to live in Spain while working remotely. To obtain it you must show:
Remote work for companies established outside Spain, with a working relationship of at least three months. If you are self-employed, up to 20 % of your clients may be in Spain.
A university degree or three years of professional experience, income of 200 % of the Spanish minimum wage (2,849 €/month in 2026) and private health insurance in Spain.

Advantages of the digital nomad residence in Spain
Residence for up to three years
If you apply from within Spain, the authorisation is granted for up to three years and can be renewed for a further two.
Your family with you
Your spouse or partner and your children can obtain residence within the same procedure.
A path to citizenship
Time spent as a legal resident counts towards Spanish citizenship, which as a general rule requires ten years of legal residence for US nationals.
Beckham Law tax regime
You may be able to opt into the Beckham Law regime if you meet its requirements. We assess your position before you move your residence.
